Obituary of Peter Kroon

The passing of Peter Kroon of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Willemina  (Boekee) Kroon, occurred on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on June 28, 1931 in Holland,  he was the son of the late Piet and Willemine (Vermeer) Kroon. Peter worked as an upholster and was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Fredericton.

Peter is survived by his daughter, Ellen Daigle (Danny) of Fredericton; sons, Jon Kroon of Hawkshaw, Wilt-Andrew Kroon (Lori) of Fredericton; son-in-law, David Hopey of Fredericton; grandchildren, Nicholas, Devon, Colton, Andrew, Ethan, Jordan; step-grandchildren, Kate, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Macen, Ellah, Lauren; sisters, Wil Knobbe, Margerata Tuinman; brothers, Johannes “Joop” Kroon (Ria), Cornelis Kroon (Willy).

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Coleen Hopey; son, Jeffery Kroon; sisters, Truus Marshal, Janna Tjeeres, Annie Dejong; brothers, Simon Kroon, Willem Kroon, Jacob Kroon; and an infant brother.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 6-8 pm.  A Private Graveside Service will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of 4SW at the DECRH and at York Care Centre for their excellent care and compassion.
