Obituary of Marlene Ann Pond
Marlene Ann Pond (McGowan), aged 67, of Douglas, NB, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the York Care Centre. Marlene was born in Saint John, NB, to Mary McGowan (Breen) and Donald J McGowan on June 7, 1955.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; son, Ryan; daughters, Dacia and Kara Harrison-Pond (Tim); brothers, Donald and Paul; and sisters, Cathy Cormier and Joan McGowan. She is predeceased by her mother, Mary McGowan.
Marlene was a retired educational assistant who made a difference in many children's lives as a caring and compassionate influence. She loved animals, particularly her dogs she had over the years, which she walked routinely throughout the Douglas area. She had various hobbies, such as baking, sewing, crafting, and gardening. She was very giving of her time, especially to the church, where she took an active role in the baptismal program and as a catechism teacher. She was a devoted wife and mother and was very involved in her children's lives. She ensured they had every opportunity to thrive and grow while instilling a sense of responsibility and compassion for others. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched.
A special thank you to Dr. Kevin Christie and the staff of the York Care Centre for their excellent care and love during the final years of Marlene's life.
There will be no visitation or service at the family's request. A Family Graveside Service will be held in the spring. For those that wish, donations may be made in memory of Marlene to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
