Obituary of Daryl Oley Barr
The Family Strongly Encourages Visitors to Wear Masks
The passing of Daryl Oley Barr of Fredericton, NB, husband of Donna (Seymour) Barr, occurred on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 8, 1937 in Arthurette, NB, he was the son of the late Oley and Irene (Wright) Barr. Daryl worked as a civil servant for the provincial government for 37 years. He was an avid curler for over 30 years, past member of Fredericton Ys Mens, UCT, Golden Club, a member of Cardigan United Church and coached Fredericton Women's Softball teams to three maritime championships.
In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Daryl is survived by his daughters, Kelly Barr-Sole (Michael), Judy Barr (Rod MacBain); grandchildren, Erin Wight (Andrew), Brendan Banks and their father Rick Banks (Jane); great-grandchildren, Rowan, Keegan and Claire; siblings, Gary Barr (Helena), Phillip Barr (Judy), Fred Barr (Susan), Paul Barr; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Eileen Gamblin, Linda Rowling, Sandra Bargamis, William Barr, Ronald Barr, June Giberson, Elizabeth Barr; several brothers/sisters-in-law; and good friends of over 60 years, George and Alice Costello.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2-4 pm. Interment will be in Seymour Memorial Cemetery, Kingsley at a later date. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of 4E at the DECRH for their care and compassion.
