COLLINS, BLAKE AVELON

Blake Avelon Collins, beloved husband of the late Ada Collins, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, October 29, 2022.  He was 89 years of age, and resided in Fredericton, NB.   Born in Cumberland Bay, NB, he was the son of the late Lewis and Vera (Barton) Collins.

Loving father to Jeff (Janice) Collins of Burlington, ON, Brenda (Ben) Driscoll of Fredericton, NB; devoted grampy to Courtney (Jacques), Andrew (Katrina), Brittany (Josh); great-grandfather to Ryker, Austin, Madison, Nathan; and several nieces and nephews.

Blake was a devoted member of Journey Wesleyan Church, helping to guide him in his faith and love of his Lord.  He was blessed with many long-time loving friends and left many with cherished memories.  In his early years, he worked as a large equipment operator, was employed at National Trailer Convoy, and later owned Collins Mobile Moving.  His work gave him the opportunity to see much of the beauty of Canada’s landscape with his enthusiastic love of travel.  His greatest devotion was to his wife and family.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Alice Avery; brother, James (Jim) Collins, sister, Gladys Ellison; brother, Arnold Collins; and infant brother, Davis Collins.

Special thanks to Dr. Jeffery Ginn for his loving care and support during his final days; the staff of 4NE at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital; Dr. Jeffrey Moore and RN Rachel Garland of the Cardiac Rehab Clinic; his loving friends; Home Support Worker, Sandra Lockwood Fraser; and pastoral staff for their prayers and support.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 6 pm - 8 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 2 pm at the same location in the T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matthew Maxwell officiating, and assistance by Pastor Janice Queale.  Pallbearers: Hayward Case, Wayne Cliff, Jacques Cloutier, Andrew Collins, Myles Harris, and Ron Kirkpatrick.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Roy Jones, Don McCormack,  and Dale Morehouse.   A reception will follow immediately after the service, and interment thereafter.

 For those who wish, remembrances (in lieu of flowers) may be made to Journey Wesleyan Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
