On behalf of Dan and myself, I’m sending sincere sympathies to Morgan Thomas, Ruth, Cory, Shannon and Bruce’s family. I’m so heartbroken over the loss of Lisa. Being friends since childhood, I never imagined life without her. We got our first summer jobs together as teenagers picking up litter and painting playground equipment and the outdoor rink in our town. We took our $125/wk cheque and cashed it at the record store at the mall in the next town because they’d do that, if you bought something. That first week I bought the ABBA album and Lisa bought Billy Joel’s. For the rest of the summer, every Friday we did the same thing. One record we bought was AC/DC. (Later we met up at the SARS concert in Toronto and sang along to every song when we heard them live.) We thought we were so rich with that summer job. With our last cheque, we bought long winter dress coats and high heels boots. Totally impractical for an outport Newfoundland winter, but we didn’t care. We thought we were all that! I will miss her!
