Obituary of Scott Alexander McAllister

No words could ever capture the loss the world felt on the evening of February 22, 2026, when Scott Alexander McAllister, passed away peacefully with his favourite girls by his side after a short but courageous fight with cancer. 

The world didn’t know what it was getting into when it welcomed Scott in to it on May 16, 1964. Although 61 years will never be nearly enough, Scott lived a full life. During his final week, he held his daughters and said he would have done anything to live until he was 99 years old, but that despite everything, he was happy for the life he lived because he got to experience a life with the two of them. 

Scott is survived by his daughters Haley and Abby, his partner and Mahal, Lorelin Luna and her two sons in the Philippines, his mother Deanna McAllister, father and step mother Sandy and Debbie McAllister, sisters Jennifer (Michael) Dobbelsteyn, Lisa (Jamie) Guidry, Beth (Joe) Whalen and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his special dog Molly. 

Scott will be remembered as the favourite son, a beloved brother and protector to his sisters (but if you ask them, they may use words like ladies man, partier and a trouble maker), as a friend who would do anything for anyone, the best and funniest ex-husband, who just days before his passing looked at his ex-wife Gail, and said out of the blue “well Gail… sorry it didn’t work out” then handed her 40 bucks as a parting gift. But what he will be remembered for the most, is him as a dad. If there is one thing we are sure of, it is that Scott was a great man, but he was an even better dad. 

Scott dedicated his life to being a hard worker. He worked many different jobs in his life and most of them were construction focused. He spent the later half of his career working as a Union Organizer for LiUNA where many knew him as Scotty 900. One of his proudest moments in his career, was fighting to have the labour laws changed to remove the 2$ fee to join the labourer’s union. He was so proud to have changed legislation. 

 Scott was also an entrepreneur and a big dreamer. He didn’t just say things, but he made them happen. From selling Scotty's Hotties in stores across NB to Yan Yan's ice cream in the Philippines. He was so proud to call the Philippines his home for the last 4 years. What a beautiful life he built there. He left his mark all over the world. 

Remember Scott for his time spent fiddle heading, tapping maple trees or his famous black forest cake. 

Scott’s family wants to give a big thanks to the CCU nurses at the DECH for giving him wonderful care; to the extra mural nurses who brought laughter in to the home; to all the staff at Bowman’s Pharmacy for going above and beyond; to the Staff at Hospice House who were a light through all the darkness; and lastly the biggest thanks to his favourite nurse of all, his sister Lisa. 

There will be a Celebration of Life service at York Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 28th at 1pm followed by a reception.
