It is with deep sadness that the family of William John George “Bill” Forsyth of Fredericton, NB, announce his passing on February 17, 2026, at the Veterans Health Unit. Bill was the beloved husband of Helen Margaret Ann (Toombs) Forsyth. Born on March 25, 1937, in Hepworth, Ontario, Bill was the son of the late Mildred Irene (Perkins) and Hugh John Forsyth.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his children, Michael Forsyth, Robert Rideout, Susan Grant (Gary) and Linda Lapointe (Derek). He was a proud grandfather to Kristina Forsyth, Levi Forsyth, Alexandra Grant (Ian), McKenzie Grant (Brady), Alisha-Lynn Lapointe (Graham), and Alana Lapointe.

Bill proudly served his country in the Canadian Army from 1962 to 1965. Following his military service, he became owner and operator of the Moonlight Motel and Restaurant during the 1970s. Throughout his working life, Bill also served as a member of the Oakville Police Department and later spent 20 years working at the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, the Pointsman Association, the Y’s Men Service Club, and the Retired Police Association of Halton, Ontario.

Bill cherished time spent with his family above all else. With great fondness, he often recalled the many years he spent at Lake George. He enjoyed travelling, woodcarving, stained glass work, and golfing. His family will remember him for his dedication, steady presence, and the pride he took in those he loved.

A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 2pm with Rev. Kelly Burke officiating. Interment will take place in Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made in Bill’s name to the Parkinsons Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
