Obituary of Laurette Marie Veysey

VEYSEY, LAURETTE MARIE

On February 9th, 2026, the family of Marie Laurette Veysey (Godin) of Royal Road, Fredericton, N.B. start our journey without her by our sides. We are so blessed to of had her in our lives for 73 years.

Laurette passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with her family by her side, knowing she was loved and will be forever in our hearts.

Born in Dalhousie, N.B. on November 24th, 1952, she is survived by her cherished son, Jason Veysey and his wife, Melissa who fondly called her mom. Her eldest granddaughter, Abigael Veysey (Her #1 Bucket of Gold); second granddaughter, Summer Veysey (A waken your dreams); grandson, Riley Veysey (R & R, our quiet one); great granddaughter, Aubrey Veysey; great granddaughter, Kinley Sacobie-Veysey, who called her Nanny Rett; Brady Sacobie (Summer), who Laurette said was the best Dad to Kinley and would be to another blessing that is on the way; Her best friend and sister, Bonnie Thibodeau (Eric) of Fredericton; sister, Patricia Hickey of Montreal; brother, Marc Godin (Lida) of Lorne N.B; nieces, Kelley McNeill (Danny Dort) of Fredericton, Nicole Boudreau of Fredericton, and Crystal Godin of Lorne N.B; great nieces, Kaitlyn and Olivia McNeil of Fredericton; nephews, Rheil Borque, Alain Borque of Montreal, and Shane Godin of Lorne, NB; Her great friend, Mary Ruth McGee (partner in crime), and daughter Jenna; Melissa’s father, Alfred Peterson (Guppy); and uncle, Eugene Larlee of Fredericton, NB.

Laurette was predeceased by her husband, Michael Veysey; infant son, Darren; daughter, Tammy Veysey; sister, Annette Wheelan; and her parents, William M. Godin and Alexandra Mae (Hickey) of Lorne N.B; aunts, Viola Larlee of Fredericton, and Doloris Peterson (Doad) of Fredericton, N.B.

After marrying her husband Michael, she was a stay-at-home mom until her children had grown. She then went to work at Molly Maids; a job she truly loved until she retired.

Laurette took advantage of her retirement to read and she loved gardening. She was especially proud of her spider plants and geraniums. She also had such a flare for decorating. Anyone who entered her home would be amazed at the warm cozy country feeling and welcomed anyone. She had a heart of gold and loved life. Of all the things she did in her 73 years, her most precious job was raising her children and seeing them with families of there own. Her family was her true love.

We will miss you as a mother, a sister, a grandmother, a great grandmother, an aunt, and a friend.
