It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and also our neighbour and friend, Doris Emma Pinnock. Surrounded by family, Doris peacefully left this world on October 31, 2025 at the Nashwaak Villa. She was weeks away from reaching the remarkable age of 102.
Doris was born on November 25, 1923 in the village of Stanley. It is there that she forged a life of love and pride for the family that she raised along with her husband, George, and the beautiful farm land that they tended together along the Limekiln Road, where she spent most of her years, and lived independently well into her 90’s.
As her own family began to leave home to start their own lives, Doris began to provide daycare to the Belyea children, something she not only loved, but also excelled at. Greg and Leah instantly became like new additions to the family. She loved, and nurtured them, them as her own. To the many children who grew up along the Limekiln, Doris was known to always have a fresh baked cookie and a cool glass of Kool-Aid to fuel hot summer afternoons. Nothing put a smile on her face faster than the sound of children playing.
Doris was a home-maker, a gardener, an avid reader, and a devout congregation member to the St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church. She was also renowned for her abilities in the kitchen, especially when it came to feeding a hungry lunch crowd, that not only included her family, but also any friends they may have invited, along with any number of workers helping out in the fields. She was tireless in her devotion to her role of a farmer’s wife.
Doris is survived by her sons, James (Lorna), Michael (Joy) and Robbie (Krista) along with grandchildren Jody (Jill), Tara (Shawn), Jaime (Judd), Tyler (Yani), Mallory, Morgan (Wade), Chris (Leanne), Chloe (Ryan) and Jay. Along with 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George, her sons Robin and Marty, along with her daughter-in-law Bev.
Visitation will be held at the St. Peters Presbyterian Church in Stanley on Tuesday, November 4th from 12 – 2 PM, with a service to follow, officiated by Rev. Chris Walker. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in the name of the St Peter’s Presbyterian cemetery fund.
