Obituary of Alice Phebe Gilmore

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alice Phebe Gilmore of Fredericton, NB, announces her passing on October 22, 2025, in Fredericton. Born on July 17, 1937, in Moser River, NS, Alice was the daughter of the late Edith (Naugler) and the late George Turner.

Alice will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cathy Hickey (Randy), her son Chris Gilmore (Joan), and her cherished grandchildren: Josh, Jeremy (Diana), and great-grandsons Tyler and Nate. She is survived by her sisters Patricia Smith and Nancy (Donald) MacDonald along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur, her brother Edgar (Dot) Turner and sister Sylvia (Les) Gammon.

Alice attended Atlantic Baptist College in Moncton where she met Wilbur, her husband of fifty-eight years.

Alice loved her Lord and was a long-time active member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Fredericton where she served in many capacities including church choir, baby band and Ferne Sewell WMS. She gave generously and graciously to many charities and organizations.

In addition to raising her family, Alice worked outside the home.  Most notably her long employment at the University of New Brunswick's Comptroller's Office.

Special thanks to the kind and professional staff of Windsor Court who took great care of Alice during her brief illness.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 536 Northumberland St, Fredericton, NB. After the funeral service a visitation and reception will take place for people to gather and share memories. 

An interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later date. 

For those who wish, donations in Alice's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada in lieu of flowers.
