Obituary of Howard Alton Munn

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Howard Alton Munn, a loving husband to Vilma Gattoc and father of Kendra and Ruby Munn.

Howard was born in Holtville on the 24th of July, 1953, to Reginald Leroy Munn and Ruby Isabelle Munn. In his early 20’s, he moved out west and made an honest living in carpentry and restoration. There, he met his wife, Vilma Gattoc, and married her on October 11th, 1997. Together, they settled in Vancouver, BC.

Howard worked for Canstar Restorations for over 35 years before retiring and returning to Holtville in 2021 at the age of 67. He was a loving, considerate man whose selflessness was only matched by his wit. He was always willing to lend a hand and crack jokes throughout. He passed away in the late hours of Monday, October 13th, 2025.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Vilma Gattoc; his two daughters, Kendra Munn (Sean Scott) and Ruby Munn; his siblings, Daisy Norrad (late Clint), Joyce Ellis (Allison), Elaine Bernard (Sanford), Betty Fraser, Reggie Munn (Irma), Vera Thomas (Ron), Regina Norrad (Harry), Keith Munn, Dorothy Morrison (Mike), Joan Calhoun (Timmy), Judy Norrad (Perry), Delhia Young (Sheldon), Michael Munn, Billy Munn, and brother-in-law, Johnny Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his sister, Izella Spencer and parents, Reginald and Ruby Munn.

Visitation will be held at the Miramichi First Pentecostal Church, 376 Holtville Road, Holtville, NB on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 4 - 7 pm. Howard’s funeral will be held the following day at 2 pm and officiated by Rev. Landon Decker. Reception to follow in the church basement. Burial will take place in Cameron Hill Cemetery, Holtville, NB. Pallbearers are Leroy Munn, Casey Norrad, Leonard Munn, Harry Norrad, Keith Munn, and Reggie Munn.
