Obituary of Bert Ladds
Emery Bertram Percy Ladds (Bert)
December 19, 1941- October 11, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bert Ladds of Maugerville, NB which occurred on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born on December 19, 1941, Bert was the beloved husband of 59 years to Helen (McCoy) Ladds.
He is survived by his three daughters, Bev (Paul), Brenda (Shawn) and Bonnie; his step son Gerald (Jed) Mcoy (Joey); precious grandchildren who affectionately called him Bampie/Uppie; Brandon (Alisha) Ladds, Ashley Ladds, Morgan (Olivier) and Ryan (Meghan) Hornibrook; cherished great grandchildren, Braedyn Ladds Dupont, Ivy Ladds, Jase and Bryce Ladds, Oakleigh Powell, sister-in-law, Thelma Rolfe, and one surviving sibling, sister Shirley, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by special grandson Bradley.
Bert grew up in Maugerville and learned to be a hard worker early in life. He was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Maugerville.” He was a self- taught meat cutter, working for many years at Mulder’s. He worked for the Province of NB at the Department of Agriculture Vet Lab, all while being the local garbage collector for Maugerville and Sheffield, running a meat shop seasonally and cutting and delivering firewood to several customers. He had a motto that he demonstrated throughout his life “Work, don’t freeze!”
He may have seemed tough on the outside, but we all knew he was a softie at heart. He had a way with people, was very well liked, adored by many and had a great smile and laugh, and could definitely make you laugh. He loved his Saturday morning Boyce Farmers Market runs and visiting all his “girls” who worked there. The “Legend” will be missed by so many, especially the love of his life who was crazy about the “B’s” and the one who stung her.
Thanks to the staff of 3SW, Cardiac Care Unit.
