Michael and I were penfriends, back in 1975. I was 15 years old then. We lost touch for a while, until one day in 1980, he wrote again, telling me that he had married a girl named Marlene. I met her in 1981. I found her to be warm, generous, humorous and kind. She was as much my friend as Michael was. A good woman, who had an enormous strength of character, a wise and loving wife to Michael and an irreplaceable friend to all who knew her. She will never be forgotten.
