Obituary of Della Bernetta Jones

The passing of Della Bernetta Jones (O’Donnell), wife of the late Brian Jones, occurred on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born on December 6, 1940 in Carroll’s Crossing, NB, to the late Earle and Mearle (Lyons) O’Donnell. Always a hard worker, Della retired from NB Tel after 25 years. Following retirement, she volunteered at York Care Centre for several years, always willing to lend a hand to the elderly and those in need. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her nieces and nephews and their children.

 

Della was the last surviving member of her immediate family, in addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Donnie O’Donnell and sister, Iona O’Donnell as well as her nephew, Shawn O’Donnell. Surviving are her nieces, Susan Case (Keith), Lisa O’Donnell and Peggy Colter (Ashley); nephew, Aaron Peterson (Mary), great nieces, Macie Case-Gregory (Zach) and Karalee Myers (Shean); great nephews, Shawn Doucet (Sam), Ashton Colter (Janelle) and Reece Colter; great-great nieces, Emmaline Gregory and Goldie Gregory; great-great nephews, Jax Doucet, Thatcher Colter, Ellis Colter and Burton Colter.

 

There will be no visitation or service at Della’s request. A private family graveside service will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Fredericton SPCA or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family as Della loved animals.
