Obituary of James "Jim" Hallett
We lost a great husband, dad, grandfather, and friend. James Roscoe Hallett, as he proudly introduced himself, was also a great storyteller. He had many stories to tell from his time driving truck at the age of twelve for his father at Hillcrest farms, as a member of W troop in the RCMP, as a spotter on spray planes in Atlantic provinces, and returning to university to become a teacher spending over thirty years at Keswick Valley Memorial School, retiring as Vice Principal.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonny Hoyt-Hallett, and his 3 sons and their families: Jeff Hoyt / Danielle Hogan and Mikaya and Tate Hoyt Hogan, Jon Hoyt-Hallett and Jenna and Alex Hoyt-Hallett (and their mother Gillian), and Jason Hallett / Amanda Farquharson and Adeline and Blake Hallett. As well as his sister-in-law, Barb Hallett, his nieces Heather and Erin Hallett and many beloved cousins.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter Adeline Hallett, brother Brian (Barb Hallett) and parents Theodore and Hilda Hallett.
Jim loved to salmon fish and hunt, and was happiest at the hunting camp in Millville. He proudly taught the love of fishing to his sons Jeff, Jon and Jason and passed on these interests to his grandsons Alex, Tate and Blake.
Jim was a proud member of the Thistle Fishing Club, an honorary member of the Fredericton North Rotary and above all a very proud Guppy / Bup to his grandchildren who brought light and laughter to him at all times.
His smile and friendly manner will be missed by all who knew him, as will his stories.
Jim’s ashes will be spread by his family at his beloved hunting camp, where he can watch the wildlife on the Northeast Lake.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place from 2-4pm on Thursday, May15th, in the banquet room at Sam Sneads, Kingswood. Memorials to Jim can be made at hospicefredericton.ca/donate, where he and his family were cared for with love by all there during the last weeks of his life. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
