Obituary of Elizabeth Mae Knowles

Elizabeth Mae Knowles (Schriver) passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at the age of 90 at Pine Grove Nursing Home.

Born in Jacksonville, NB, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Tracey and Catherine Schriver.

She is survived by a son Wallace Knowles (Dale) of Bathurst, a daughter Lorna Mansfield (Randy) of Fredericton; her grandchildren Jennifer Hickey (Morris) of Quispamsis, Andrew Knowles of Moncton, Chancey Mansfield and Taylor Mansfield both of Fredericton, seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Ronald Schriver (Charlene).

Liz is predeceased by her husband, Lane, and their eldest son, Louis; as well as her siblings: Eldon, Mary, Carl, Winston, Owen, Daniel, Tracy Jr., Caroline, and infant brother.

Elizabeth, known to many as Liz or Aunt Libby, dedicated her working life to healthcare. Liz was an RNA (LPN), working primarily as an Operating Room Technician. She loved her work in the OR. Following retirement, she continued looking after people through several years of dedication home care.

Liz, along with her husband Lane, were Provincial Bee Keeping Inspectors for several years., having their own apiary in Clifton.

Liz enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the camp she and her husband built. She spent many hours doing cross stitching and crocheting. In her later years Liz discovered new hobbies in golf and curling.

Visitations will be held at York Funeral Home in Fredericton on Sunday May 11th from 2 to 4 p.m. and in Bathurst at Elhatton Funeral Home on Monday, May 12th from 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held Tuesday May 13th at 11 am at Christ Church Cemetery Clifton.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for the amazing love and care provided to Liz. She was truly loved and cared for like a part of the family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Donations in memory of Liz may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Christ Church Cemetery Care or a charity of the donor’s choice.
