Obituary of Diane Rose Everett

Please share a memory of Diane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts and bittersweet appreciation that the family of Diann (Diane) Rose Everett of Marysville, NB, announce her passing on Saturday, April 26, at the age of 78. Following a lengthy but very well fought battle, she started her journey peacefully from the comfort of her homestead, surrounded by family and encompassed in love, just as she had wanted.

Born on December 23, 1946 in Aroostook, NB to Burton & Winnifred (McQuade) Dee, Diane was the only girl of their seven children – we are certain that this is where she first gained her stubborn strong will and unwavering patience. She loved listening to her Dad play his fiddle, and both admired and acquired her Mother’s tireless work ethic and “waste not, want not” mentality.

Diane was the loving and very tolerant wife of Bucky Everett for 45 years, they married on November 2, 1963. Soon after they moved to Fredericton and started building their family, having three children. Their house soon became a staple in Marysville for many family and friends, where you were almost always certain to find a great time and a good “Pick & Grin”.

She was a hard worker with many jobs throughout the years. She worked at the Hartt Shoe Factory until it’s closure in 2000 and went on to spend the rest of her career with Horizon Health at the Doctor Everett Chalmer’s Hospital until retiring in 2012 – when the real fun started!

Diane made the most of her well-earned retirement years – she took some trips, made many memories, and rarely ever turned down a good time. When she was not entertaining a pool party, she was surely to be out and about embracing new adventures with friends or family. Often jokingly called our “sen-ager” – she loved to mingle, dance, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. In her later years she also enjoyed spending time at Grand Lake with friends and family, or a good shuffleboard tournament at your local Legion.

A gentle soul who always put others first, and whose generosity knew no bounds, Diane will forever be missed by her surviving daughters Angela (Steven) and Annette Everett, and son Gerald Everett Jr.; granddaughters Amanda (Corey) and Tami-Leisa (Ben) Everett, Jamie Miller, and grandson mixed with partner-in-crime Jesse Everett-Pelkey; her great-grandsons and absolute joys of her life Nash Belmore and Levi Miller; brothers Earl (Elsie), Allie and Edwin Dee; sister-in-laws Fern (Bill) and Patricia (Floyd) Dee; her kitty companions Goose, Oreo and Mocha; other grand fur babies Odie, Annie and Harlee; and her very dear friend Lyle Clark; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Burton & Winnifred Dee; husband Gerald (Buck) Everett, brothers Bill, Floyd and Gaylon Dee; and an infant sister, Glenna Dee.

“The trunk of our tree” – the family wishes to extend our absolute gratitude and special mention to Jesse, for taking the utmost care and providing fun and loving companionship to our girl in the final years of her life; in addition to him, Jamie-Lynn for stepping into the role of World’s Best Nurse and overall caregiver through the good and the bad to turn her final wishes of leaving this Earth happy, comfortable, and from her own home into her reality: G-MA was and continues to be so proud. Special thanks to the Extra Mural Program and their nurses, the nurses of the ICU at the DECH, the Palliative Care Program and York Funeral Home for everything during this trying time. We take great comfort in knowing she had everything she wanted and can now breathe easy.

Friends are invited to celebrate the life of Diane with those who knew and loved her best on Saturday, May 17 at the Fredericton Capital City Club from 1:00 to 4:00 PM; please bring your best stories and memories to share. Diane will be laid to rest with her family in Medford, NB, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to the Oromocto SPCA in her name.
