Capt. Alice Margery (Thompson) Goodridge of Fredericton was promoted to Glory on April 3rd, 2025 in the presence of her daughter Sherry and son-in-law Kevin. Born in Little River, N.S. on September 25, 1937, she met her future husband Herbert (Herb) while working in a music store in Picton, Ontario, and after a whirl wind courtship they married on June 25, 1958, a loving relationship which lasted 63 years until Herb's passing in 2021. Together they served in the Correctional Services branch of the Salvation Army for 18 years after which she retired in 1998.
Alice's primary passion was always for her family with much of her life centered around raising her daughters, Sherry and Cindy, and supporting her loving husband Herb. She was also a devoted Christian and prayer warrior, committing much of her time to church ministries including Pioneer Girls and Christmas Kettles, and fundraising for Missionaries and church projects. Many will remember her labor of love bake sales held twice a year with proceeds toward missions as well as local programs. Alice loved to travel, cheer for the Blue Jays (and Red Sox), and was a big fan of Southern Gospel music.
Alice is survived by her daughter Sherry Brewer (Kevin), grandchildren April-Dawne Colter (Chris), Brandon Moore, Jessica Sharpe (Rob Young), Jennifer Sharpe, Logan Brewer (Samantha), as well as great grandchildren Kourtnie, Jacob, Cody, Tye, Taylor, Jace, and Maevyn. Great-great grandchildren include Lexi, Callie, Easton, Eli, Emmett, as well as several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband Captain Herbert Goodridge, daughter Cindy Gilmore, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Public visitation will be at the Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church located at 531 St. Mary's Street, Fredericton on Monday, April 7th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with service to be held at same location on Tuesday, April 8th at 2:00pm.
