Obituary of Nancy Ann George
Our beloved Mama (Nancy Ann George) went to be with Jesus on March 30, 2025.
Born on September 1, 1932 in Moncton, NB, Nancy was the only child of the late John Spence and Helen Lavinia Dunlap. Wife of the late Stanley George and predeceased by infant son John Stanley and daughter Samantha Renée George-Hayes. Mama/Nana will be lovingly remembered by sons Mike (Debra), Tony (Lori), and daughters Sinikka Hurley (Richard), Paulette Craig, and Cara Crawford. Grandchildren: Connor, Bradley (Diana), Jordan, Austin, Emily, Shelby, Matthew, Kaz, Alyssa, Andrew, Tasha (Jeff), and Alex (Ashley). Great-Grandchildren: Maddie, Tay, Bryson, Kayden, Mia, Elsie, and Riya. “Mama” will also be sadly missed by her dedicated friend Anita. They could often be found playing a spirited game of Phase 10.
Nancy was an active member of Smythe Street Church for years, where many of her treasured friendships began. One of her passions at the church was searching for appropriate merchandise to sell at the Book Nook. She also enjoyed volunteering in other aspects, such as helping in the kitchen, Alpha, and the Easter Play.
Nancy will always be remembered for her deep love of Parlee Beach at Pointe-du-Chêne, to which she returned annually for 88 of her 92 years. One of her fondest memories growing up was riding her horse Ginger from Moncton to Pointe-du-Chêne, where she loved to ride Ginger on the beach. After Nancy had her own children, she shared her passion for Parlee Beach by spending a good portion of the summer there every year. For all that knew her, Nancy’s cottage was a welcome beacon. Nancy’s love of the area was obviously passed down to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who now visit annually ensuring the continuation of her beach legacy.
Nancy also had a great love of travel. In her early years, she would occasionally travel to New York City with her mother to watch the Rockettes perform. For those that knew Nancy, she also really enjoyed cruising. Her first cruise was on Queen Mary with her mother when she was just a teenager. In her 80's, Nancy was able to rekindle her passion with cruises in the Caribbean. Nancy loved all aspects of cruising from the formal dining room, to sitting pool side, to meeting new friends, but most of all, the time spent with family. Off the ship, Nancy enjoyed all the islands she visited from shopping on St. Thomas to the beauty of Dominica.
In the last year of her life, Nancy’s home was Medley Hall. A big thank you to all the staff who loved and cared for her.
We will all miss the teasing, laughter, lively conversations, card games, stories, but most of all, your warm hugs and kisses.
“Bye for Now” Mama.
