Obituary of Barbara Joan Symes

The passing of Barbara Joan Symes (MacKay) of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 25, 1943 in Bloomfield Ridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Pearl "Edith" (Case) MacKay. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Barry Mackay. Barbara worked as a Dispatcher for Purolator Courier for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, darts and horseshoes. Barbara was very creative and good with her hands, she loved to do various types of crafts and knitted items for her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Taylor (Dave) of Durham Bridge, NB and her children, Michelle Taylor, Angela Melo, Matthew Taylor, Stacey Taylor, Shawn Taylor and Faith Taylor; her son, Ronnie Munn (Monique) of Fredericton, NB and his children, Laura Ramsay, Justin Munn, Austin Brun, Ashley Brun and Ryan Brun; as well as her three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Sebastian and Brayden; brother, Garth Mackay (Cynthia) of Astle, NB; sister-in-law, Marilyn MacKay of Maple Glen, NB and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her partner, David MacNaughton and his children, Kelly (Dave Mulligan), Wendy MacNaughton Smith and Pete MacNaughton.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 6 - 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 2 pm with Mark Moir officiating with Reception to follow in the Fireside Room.
