Evelyn was such a delight to work with at the hospital. Her sister Vivian worked there too and get those two together you was sure of a sore belly from laughing. Evelyn was a great friend to my mom Evelyn who also worked there. It was like a big family affair when we all got together. My mom is also gone now and I sit and remember all the great times we had, wish we could just turn back time. Evelyn will surely be missed by many. Its been years since I saw her last, but the memories I have of her will last a lifetime. Rest in Peace dear Evelyn, You were a hard worker I know for sure, I bet you and my mom are having a great chat by now.. Till we meet again

To Irvine, Susie and Family: I first met Evelee as I loved to call her in the late 80's at the DECH as her sewing shop was right across from my office. Evelee was a hard worker and took great pride in her work. She never did anything unless it was perfect. After Evelee retired, I would go and visit her and Irvine at their home. I always loved going there. Irvine would be tending the stove and Evelee would be sitting in her chair making a new craft and the smell of something delicious was always in the air. Even when her mobility forced her to use a walker, she was always up and about cooking and you never left her house without her wanting to feed you or give you something she had made with her many crafts. Whenever I was there, I would usually bring up idiot Trump or idiot Trudeau and that would set Evelee off for about a 30 minute rant. I always left their house feeling better than when I went in. Evelee told it like it was and that was so refreshing in today's crazy world where everyone gets offended by the smallest thing. Evelee liked you or she didn't, it was black or it was white, it was wrong or it was right and you knew where she stood with you. She loved her family and she was certainly a warrior when it came to Flub. She fought many battles for him always wanting nothing but the best care for him. Her and Irvine spent countless hours with Flub and I know he knew he was well loved. She spoke often of Susie/Gerry coming to NB to help and visit her and Irvine. She was especially thankful with all the help they provided with the last two big moves. I saw Evelee in September at the Villa and even though she was sick, she still had her smile and wanted to know how I was doing. I will miss you Evelee, you have left me with many memories and my heart goes out to Irvine and family. Irvine, you were an amazing Husband and Stepfather.

Evelyn was my Grandma — and although I didn’t get to see her as much as I should have, she still had a major impact on my life. I believe her strength lives on in me. Don’t be confused by her tiny frame - a warrior lived inside her. Those who knew her know all that she has been through in her life and that she came out the other side of that and met a man who treated her very well and gave her a lovely life in the fresh country air. I remember visiting in the summer and going to see the bears at the dump with my Grandma (driving the pick up truck) and my Mom. The bears got a little too friendly with our truck - but my Grandma kept her cool. She would often listen to me on the radio - from Toronto - over satellite - and would ask my Mom where I was if she didn’t hear me. She raised 4 kids - including my Mom Susan and Uncles Ivan, James (Flub) and Terry. She lost Flub and Ivan in just the last few years. That couldn’t have been easy. I will remember her incredible spirit and hope I can continue to bring that feistiness to the world. Rest in Love Grandma xoxo

Evelyn was my grandmother. Mother to my mother Sue, Uncle Ivan (RIP), Uncle Flub (RIP) and Uncle Terry. Truthfully I only met Grandma a few times as a child but reflect back on those times with very fond memories. Her and Irvine lived right next door to Uncle Flub and I recall getting a crash course on snowmobiling (as a 7 or 8 year old) and given free reign to rip through the Fredericton wilderness on my own. It was a free and special world that I was given privilege to live in (if even for only a short time). I was apparent to me then and now, that they lived in a unique situation, outside of the hustle and bustle of modern day life. As my mother mentioned, this was their happy place. Her and Irvine's home felt immediately comfortable, always with a dog around that was very well fed, loved and looked after. She was an incredibly crafty sewer, always sending us handmade goodies. I recall one of the last times I spoke with her was the day after my wedding, thanking her for her generous gift and feeling very good to have her blessing upon the new marriage of my wife (Amanda) and I. She was a nurturing, loving and strong woman. Rest in peace Grandma xoxo.

It is interesting what comes to mind when you look back on the life of someone who has passed on.
The first time I met my future mother in law, Evelyn in 1967, I mistook her for Sue's sister. I was in her good books from then on.
I can personally vouch for Evelyn's cooking and baking skills. Her home made bread and peanut butter cookies did not disappoint.
Sue and I enjoyed going out for dinner with her and Irvine and having " loving but heated discussions" as to who should pay.
Evelyn always insisted on paying and Sue and I had to be resourceful to ensure that she didn't.
Although she struggled in her later years due to health issues, Evelyn did enjoy a good laugh and had a great sense of humor.
I have a lot of respect for this woman who endured a lot in her lifetime including being predeceased by two of her sons.
I am thankful that she had Irvine in her life for so many years, to share their lives together out in the countryside that they loved.

My Mom, Evelyn was small but mighty. All her siblings referred to her as "Ninnie", because Evelyn was hard for them to pronounce when they were young. She was a very caring and devoted woman, especially when it came to her family. She had many overwhelming struggles in her life, but endured none the less. Mom was someone who told it like it is, and people knew where they stood with her. She got pulled over driving the pickup truck one day by a police officer because she was driving too slow, and she lectured the officer on the terrible condition of the road etc. The officer gladly let her go, and told her to have a good day. Mom was liked and got along with everyone. Her co-workers admired her strong work ethic, which she passed on to myself and my brothers. She was an amazing woman to overcome all that she had to deal with, and still live to be 90 years old. Country life with my step-dad "Irvine" was truly "their" happy place. Watching the deer come and go, gardening, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and living a simple life . Mom was really a "Force of Nature" who liked to laugh and have fun. She will be truly missed and never forgotten by so many.
I Love You Mom, Rest in Peace.....Susie.
