Obituary of Margaret Jane Hiscock
Margaret Jane Hiscock passed away September 22, 2023 at York Care Centre after a recent diagnosis of a rare form of dementia called primary progressive aphasia. Margaret was the wife of the late John Hiscock and daughter of John Lomax and the late Ella (Buchanan) Lomax. Margaret was born in Stanley, NB, on December 21, 1952.
Margaret was a devoted caregiver by trade. She took great pride in her role as a registered nurse and was fondly known by the community as the favourite nurse to draw their blood. Margaret was deeply devoted to the greater health of the community and lead several health-related initiatives for the village of Stanley.
In her later years and throughout her retirement, she centered the attention to herself and her family. Margaret’s grandsons held a special place in her life, and she enjoyed watching their growth, sharing in their favorite sports, and treasuring those precious moments they shared.
Margaret cherished the moments she spent with her father during their many road trip adventures.
For herself, she embraced new things such as keeping fit and exercising, learning to play the ukulele, coming out of her comfort zone and joining the belly dancing group. And being the forever learner she was, signing up for nutrition classes and taking body and mind courses.
In addition to her father, Margaret is survived by her daughters Michelle (Josh) Ryan and Stephanie (Nick) Seymour; grandsons Luke Ryan and Garrett Seymour; brothers Irvine (Diane) Humble and Bob (Bryna Warshawsky) Lomax; along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and mother, Margaret was predeceased by her brother Eldon Humble, brother-in-law Derek, and sisters-in-law Ann and Janet.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, from 1-2pm, Thursday, September 28, 2023; followed by a celebration of life at 2pm with Pastor Normand MacDonald officiating. A private Interment will take place at Hillcrest United Church Cemetery. The family wish to extend appreciation to York Care Centre for the care and support given to Margaret during her time there. Donations in Margaret’s memory can be made to the Stanley Community Food Bank or to the Aphasia Institute https://www.aphasia.ca/donate/donate-now/
