My Dear brother Dave:
I haven't talked with you for a while, but think of you often. The last few times our conversation was shortened because of the sickness, and that's unfortunate. At least now you will not have any more pain. I've talked with Donna since you left us and she tells me that Julie is a great help with everything. You left them with a lifetime of great loving memories. Watch over us from time to time. Give Dad, Mom & Melodie a big hug for me till we see you again.

Dear Donna and family,
We are so incredibly sorry to hear about the loss of Dave. I have so many wonderful memories of Dave living next door to my parents. He was not only a wonderful neighbor to our family, but also a great friend. Whether it be a neighborhood gathering or a few friends getting together on the back deck-he was always up for a good time. I will miss his hugs, his quick wit, his stories, his compassion, his sense of humor, his washer toss skills, but most of all I will miss his friendship. To know dave is to love dave. I am so incredibly grateful that my parents moved in next door and I had the opportunity to get to know him.
Donna we are sending you all our love and big hugs. (I know my mom saved a special seat on a deck in heaven for him and I’m sure they will be playing a game of washer toss up there too). Until we meet again.
Love Jen, Andrew, Eva and Jack McCluskey

Dale Hunter posted a condolence

To Donna and family,
I am a former neighbour and good friend to Dave and Donna during their many years living in Skyline Acres in an area Dave fondly called “The Hood”. He was affectionately referred to as the MAYOR of the hood - and had keys to everyone’s house in order to look after things when anyone was away.
When we first moved into the neighborhood, the first people to greet and welcome us were Dave and Donna. Their back deck quickly became the social gathering spot for all the neighbours and no matter what time of day they were always welcoming.
When my wife Marina passed away in 2009, both Dave and Donna helped me through a very difficult time with many nights sitting on the deck providing support to me.
When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009, it was Dave who drove me to Moncton for my surgeries and radiation treatments - the sign of a true friend.
I have so many great memories of Dave golfing, partying on the deck, listening to music, playing 45’s or just talking. He was a good listener and a very kind and gentle soul.
Thank you Dave for the memories and for being my friend. You will be truly missed.
Rest in peace.
Your friend Dale Hunter
Donna, take comfort in your many treasured memories of Dave and know he is no longer suffering. He will be at peace as he is laid to rest in the neighborhood he so greatly loved.

Dear Donna and Family,
I was shocked and saddened to read of Dave's death. Far too young to have run out of time. I enjoyed the years I worked at Liverpool St. School with him. He was a kind, pleasant man who cared for people, which included his students, He always seemed to be happy and was so easy to get along with. I remember you too at Weight Watcher classes and the fun we had there. Nothing will be the same without him but everything is better because of him. You will all be in my prayers during this distressing time for you. His was a life well lived.

It is with our deepest sympathy and sad heart I write this to you and your family.
We met Dave when we moved to Fredericton in 1998 and enrolled our kids at Liverpool St. School. He was a wonderful teacher to our kids, and made them feel very welcomed at their new school.
Dave was a fun and happy friend, neighbour, mayor and key holder to several homes of the cul-de-sac, in our happy one of a kind neighbourhood.
We will forever miss him.

I worked with Dave at Nashwaak Valley, Taymouth schools. He was a great guy and a wonderful teacher. He taught my children and they loved him as all the children did. He had such a kind, caring way with all students.
