Surrounded by family, Harry Russell Tuckey, GJ, CD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Veterans Health Priestman Unit. Born on September 4, 1930, he was the only child of the late Russell and Amy Tuckey nee Northrup born in Belleisle Creek, NB.  He was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie Orma (Crossman), daughters Dale Lorraine Muir and Linda Joyce Allport, grandsons John Muir and Anthony "Tony" Muir, and his second wife Jane Margaret (Foster). Harry is survived by his only son Michael Tuckey (Patsy) and daughter Daphne Tuckey and grandchildren Kathleen Thorne (David), Denise Machum, Jennifer MacDonald (Paul), Christopher (Michelle) Allport, Kim Allport (Colin), Traci Ward (Chris) Kristeen Ward (James), Andy Tuckey and Laurie (Lawrence) Van der meer and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Harry was a member of the R.C.N. serving in squadrons VU-32, VS-880 and HU-21; he served 15 years and toured on the HMCS Bonaventure (The Bonnie). After his time with the R.C.N. he started his next career as a Jeweller. He studied and became a Gemologist, he taught at the New Brunswick Craft School before opening his own business, Tuckey’s Jewellry Repair, in York Plaza until 1995.  Over the years Harry designed many pieces, some receiving awards from the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. He shared his craft with many of the workers in his shop, some of whom have their own today.  Harry enjoyed working in many different facets of craft, he could be working with wood creating his unusual Christmas display of Penguins pulling Santa’s sleigh to Chickens or the many whirly gigs he had in his yard.  Harry was also an avid gardener, he would try to grow just about anything, sometimes with success, sometimes not, but that never stopped him from trying something new.

The Tuckey family would like to thank all the staff at the Veterans Health Priestman Unit for the excellent care that they gave Harry during his time there.

Harry’s wishes were for there to be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of York Funeral Home. A private burial will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Saint Simon and Saint Jude’s Anglican Cemetery in Belleisle Creek, NB. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Veterans Health Priestman Unit, the Salvation Army or Transition House. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
