Obituary of Christina Marion Rees
Christina Marion Rees 1947-2023
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Christina Rees lovingly known to her family as 'Tini' (pronounced"Teenee') on Monday, July 24th, 2023 at the Windsor Court Nursing Care Home. Born in Lachine, Quebec on September 25th, 1947 to now deceased parents David Alanson John Rees of Lachine, Quebec and Lilly Mary Rees (née Godin) of Namur, Quebec, she was also predeceased by her older brother David Alanson John Rees Jr. and his son John Rees.
She is survived by her younger brother Herbert William Rees, wife Bonnie Mae Rees (née Naugler) of New Maryland and sister-in-law Barbara Rees (née Booker) presently of Phoenix, Arizona, USA, nephews, Timothy (wife Tasha) Halifax, Nova Scotia and Andrew (wife Heather) Wellington, New Zealand, nieces, Katherine Rees and Victoria Rees Woodrow (husband Kelly) and their children. After high school, Christina went to McDonald College, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Montreal, where she earned a diploma in teaching. On graduating she taught grade four in Roxborough, Quebec until moving to Fredericton New Brunswick. Her preference was always for teaching the "little kids" in grade school. Having an ear for languages, she was fluently bilingual and taught French Immersion. Christina then made a major change in her career path, devoting herself to the care of others as a home care worker. This selfless behavior resulted in her looking after her mother who was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease in her old age until her passing. Not a birthday or Christmas went by that she did not give her extended family gifts, even when she was sick and found it hard to get out shopping.
Christina was by no means a saint but with her giving nature she could not understand how people could be so uncaring to their fellow man. She often questioned how some people could walk by others in need without lending a hand. Rest in peace Tini. At the request of the deceased the funeral, burial and memorial service will be private for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a donation, in memory of Christina, to a New Brunswick charity of their choice. Interment will take place at a later date with burial at the family plot at the Douglas Rural Cemetery off Wilkins Avenue in Nashwaaksis.
