Dear Rindy and Family,
Tom was such a positive influence in my life and directly responsible for me moving to this beautiful province. I am so fortunate to have had many conversations with Tom and tell him privately how much I admired, respected and valued him in my life. It really took me back as we had just spoke before his passing. My thoughts and love are with you and your family. Tom was such a family man, I heard so many stories over our friendship of how much he loved you all so dearly. My prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Early memories, last memory.
Our earliest interactions with Tom occurred at Nashwaaksis United Church back in the 1980's.
Margo and Tom ended up on several church committees together, and she remembers Tom as being so respectful and supportive of the ideas and viewpoints of others, always acting as a calming influence. Tom and Margo were co-planners of a special Festival of Faith, with the theme "We are a New Creation". The planning went flawlessly, as did the event. The ultimate touch was that Tom surprised the group with beautiful stained glass butterflies that he had created based on the event logo. This is just one example of Tom going the extra mile.
Henry had been asked to leave his high school choir as the director thought that he couldn't carry a tune, and he was always very insecure about opening his mouth to sing. Tom, in his great wisdom, insisted that Henry join the Red Sweater Choir, and as a result, Henry spent four wonderful years making a joyful noise with this group, and enjoying the fellowship that the experience provided.
After being away for almost 25 years, Tom and Rindy welcomed us back to Fredericton with open arms, and we enjoyed food, wine, conversation, laughter and games with them on several occasions. Tom had a wry sense of humour, and on our final evening together, he was in great spirits. The last sound that we heard from him was his wonderful laugh, and we will treasure that memory.

Rindy our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Tom was known to the MacNaughton family since he started at the old Teachers College and then UNB. He took up residence with the MacNaughtons during that time and they thought of him as a second son. Tom always had run of the house on York Street and on more than one occasion he said to Verna that if you ever decide to get rid of the “ wing back “ chairs their mine and low and behold he got his wish. Such a wonderful second son to my Mom and Dad. Eric & Stephanie

I first met Tom in 1973, when I took my first Computer Science course at UNB. The .material was clear, understandable and very interesting. I could tell Tom really cared about the success of his students.
Several years later, Tom and I taught Computer Science Extension courses together. Tom was always quick to help and advise if I had any questions or concerns.
In later years, I joined the Thursday at noon Chinese lunch gatherings with Tom and company. Tom was always very informed and took part in many interesting discussions. He even looked me up after I moved to Calgary when he was visiting his daughter. We got togehter for lunch several times in Calgary, and he updated me with what was happening in Fredericton.
It was a privelege and a pleasure to get to know Tom as both an instructor and as a friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Our deepest condolences to Rindy and family.

Dear Rindy, and Erika, Elizabeth, and Evan and your families,
Your dad's name has been on our fridge door ever since he was hospitalized and we've kept him, and you all, close in thought and said little prayer every time we opened the door. There is never a good time to have to say good-bye to a loving husband, father and grandfather. Rindy, you and Tom seemed a real team and your friendliness and welcoming smiles and optimism were a real light. We'll remember the last time seeing that behaviour in action, also Tom standing up and encouraging everyone to look forward to the next chapter in the church's life. Special events meals, music, will still happen but something will be missing.....Hope Tom will be tucked right there in your heart, Rindy, when you travel about again, and we'll look forward to more unexpected hello's in unexpected places! May the many, many good memories you made be a real source of strength and solace at this sad time.
